What's involved?

Discover Your Assertive Self is not an assertiveness 'training' as such – we don't teach assertiveness techniques. It is an innovative, interactive workshop that came about when we asked ourselves:

  • How can we help people be more assertive without giving them OUR ideas, theories and strategies about how assertiveness works?
  • How can we create the conditions for people to learn from their own experience, and the experience of others?

Our aim is for you to discover what you need to do in order to be more assertive.

We believe we all have more resources and skills than we recognise and use; that we have many strategies we can build upon — if only we knew what they were. There is no one way to be assertive which works for everyone. Because of this, the workshop will enable you to discover for yourself just what needs to happen for you to be more assertive, whatever your particular situation. Every activity is designed to encourage your very own assertive self to put in an appearance.

So join us and discover how to …

  • say 'no' and mean it
  • face up to situations and deal with them in the way you really want to
  • develop a stronger sense of self
  • find the courage to be the person you want to be, without compromising your beliefs and values
  • craft your own assertive phrases to use in difficult situations
  • be more honest with yourself and others
  • control your reactions when you feel confronted

You can read more about this workshop and how we designed it here.
